October 24th: A Day of Learning NH Soils. 9am- 4pm. Riverhill Grange, Penacook, NH

Come learn about the basic properties of soil. Taught by retired USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Soil Scientist Joe Homer, the day begins with an introduction to NH soils (classroom style) then we head outdoors for an in-depth, hands-on look! Please dress accordingly for late October weather in NH as we will be outside for most of the day. Lunch is NOT included- there is a market down the road with meal options or pack your own. There is a $35 fee.

December 29th: Hands-On WebSoil Survey Workshop at Pembroke Academy from 9-noon.

Web Soil Survey provides planners, conservation organizations, state agencies and landowners internet access to relevant soils information needed to make land use and management decisions.  Web Soil Survey is a simple, yet powerful way to access and analyze Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) soil survey maps, interpretations and data.  During this workshop we’ll explore the three easy steps that will allow you to access a soil map for your “area of interest”, create interpretive maps, review a variety of soils data and generate a customized report. Hands on learning!  Each student will have their own computer. There is a $35 fee. This class offers 3 Subsurface Credits.
